I am surprised that we have not heard a single whisper about this one. Good find. dysfunction26 09-09-08, 11:20 PM I clicked on your link first thinking you meant to type Home Cinema 720, but I see it is a completely new 720p projector. I am surprised that we have not heard a single whisper about this one. Good find. I agree, if these has semi-decent black levels, I may pick this up as a back up projector. If the MSRP is $799, I'm sure we'll see a $649-$699 street price...720p at that price is pretty amazing. jrwhite 09-10-08, 10:58 AM They announced the TW420 at IFA, but no press release about the HC700 at CEDIA ( they didn't press release the new upcoming HC6500UB either ) I wondered about the zoom as well. I found this photo on cnet.uk that seems to show 2 paddles on the lens barrel. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/homecinema/0,39029447,49298667-4,00.htm One thing that's mentioned in the TW420 web reports is that it has a low latency 'game mode' similar to the AX200. Jonathan nomad139 11-03-08, 12:34 PM Out on the Epson web site now: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63079021 Also, there's a cool video out on the PP site, with the Epson rep training PP folks. It shows this model & the new 1080P (mostly the 1080P). lifeinaday 11-03-08, 02:18 PM I think that Epson has announced three new projectors that all of them have identical specifications, identical cases, same lamp and same price, $799.00 1.PowerLite Home Cinema 700 2.EX70 Multimedia Projector 2.PowerLite W6 Multimedia Projector Am i missing something here? reconlabtech 11-03-08, 02:49 PM Might be what some are looking for as a cheap entry into the market but here a few notes to consider: Limited zoom - 1.2x No lens shift Fan - 35db/28db Native resolution - 1280 x 800 CR - 2,000:1 Looks like they are trying to cover all the low cost bases with one model. jrwhite 11-03-08, 08:38 PM The press releases I saw for the TW420 were squarely aimed at bachelors for gaming and sports. A taped interview with an Epson trainer on the PP site, he said it was their business / theatre crossover. I think it's a great product for that market, and anyone wanting to try FP without laying out a lot of cash, or searching for the esoteric 'great closeout deal' pj's. What is lens shift? Thanks reconlabtech 11-07-08, 04:31 PM What is lens shift? ThanksLet's say you want to put this on a shelf behind you about 6 feet from the floor. The image projects straight out to the wall and starts 5 feet off the floor and up onto the ceiling. You grab the vertical lens shift knob/stick and adjust it until the image is now down on the wall with the top about a foot from the ceiling and the bottom 3 feet from the floor. It allows you to physically shift your lens so you can move the image, not the PJ. |
