I'm new here so please be gentle. I'm renovating my basement and i was hoping to incoporate a home theater in it. I have a room that's 12x9x 8 high. I was wondering if that's sufficient for a 6 person home theater and what screen size should i go with? I do have room to make a larger room but i'm trying to save as much space for other things as well. If the above dimensions won't do what size should it be?

Thanks in advance.

You want as least the size of mine if you are just starting out. If I had the change to expand my room, I would ask for 2ft more on width and 4ft more on width for a 16x20 room. Mine is currently 11.75x16 with 2 rows of 3 ht seats.

A little larger would be good, but keep it rectangular in shape. Don't end up with a square...that's bad news acoustically. How much more space can you get?

i can go 15x11 if needed, but i don't think i can go much larger or i would eat up to much room elsewhere. What screen size can i run in a room of these dimensions and how far back should i sit?

Thanks,
Paul
