I have a Harmony 890 for a pool house entertainment center.
After reading more about "Phantom Loads" I am looking at ways to reduce my wasted energy cost (go for it, call me a tree hugger :) ).
I am trying to find out if it would make sense to purchase a Z-wave power receptical (outlet). (sorry new to the site, so i can't paste link).
My plan is to plug my Plasma into one of these and my surge protector (with Receiver, DVD, Subwoofer, harmony wireless base, power amp all plugged in) into another one of these.
My thought is that i could program the Harmony to turn on the Receptical (outlet) first (which would now allow power to go to the devices), then wait a bit, then power up everything else. When i push off, the normal off proceedure would run again then it would turn off the power to the devices.
As i understand it a 52 inch plasma costs about $160 per year in electricity IF YOU NEVER turn it on. So this seems to make a hell of a lot of sense.
Only problem.. I don't see anyone selling them for this purpose. I only see them being sold to control lights.
Anyone looked at this or have any suggestions?
