I have the Sony HDR-SR11 and downloaded the Sony Vegas 9 Studio trial. I was able to put a video up on Vimeo and it looks gorgeous! Now for my second video, I wanted to do some editing, but noticed that the preview window on Vegas Studio runs choppy on my Vista system. I turned off all the aero junk and chose Preview (Quarter) as my preview screen and that still didn't make much of a difference. I'm wondering if my computer is up to the task. Here are the specs:
Windows Vista Business Upgrade (SP1) 32 Bit
Pentium(R) D CPU 2.8GHz, 2.79GHz
2 GB RAM
Radeon X600 (128MB)
Is this good enough or do I need to upgrade a component or the entire system?
Thanks!

The whole system.
But as a by I don't use Vegas, I use Ulead Movie Factory 6 + HD add on. However, I have:
Intel Duo Quad Q6700 (2.66Ghz)
4Gb (3.25Gb) matched RAM
1.4 TB SATA 3Gbs drive
ATI 1950 XTX PCI-e (512Mb) <- probably the weakest link in the lot
XP Pro (32) with SP3.
Never used Vista and (without starting a XP vs Vista pissing match) never intend to.
AVCHD -> AVCHD is pretty quick as there's no re-rendering. However AVCHD -> SD DVD took about 5 hours for an approx 2hour DVD (DVD9) with the above system.
The long and short of it is more is better when it comes to video editing.

I wonder if you could get by using Videstudio 11.5 Plus. It has smart proxy which makes a low resolution copy of your HD material and allows you to edit that, then when you render it renders the HD material using the editing instructions you made on the low resolution copy. Supposedly, you could get by with your computer specs. Don't know how well it works though.
