Just got some birthday cash so I can finally upgrade my 5.1 to a true center channel from the Denon book shelf fill in speaker used due to lack of funds. Hopefully someone can help me decide or provide some advice.

I've looked at: KEF KHT6000C, Canton CD50 and Definitive Technology Mythos Seven.

Current set up (built from 2.1 add ons) are KEF Q-55 fronts, Boston Acoustic Bravos as rears, and Energy s8.3 sub all driven by a Marantz SR5600 AV Receiver. The room is medium sized and almost perfectly square at 15' x 15'.

I'm looking for a center channel that will sound well with my KEFs, but that has a thin profile that I can place under the TV and eventually wall mount. Would like to stay at $350-$400.

Thanks

Why won't the matching Kef center channel work? Is it too large to place under the TV?

If the matching Kef center will work, go with it. This will provide the proper timbre match between the fronts and the center, which is ideal.

If you can't accommodate the Kef, find out what drivers the Kef center uses and then try to find another brand that uses those drivers in their center channel. The crossover will be different, but at least the drivers will match.

Naunce,

Thanks for the advice! THe KEF is probably a bit more than I'd like to spend and all other other KEF centers are either much more $ or quite large in size for my set up.

If I can find the KEF on sale I'll jump otherwise I'll research the Q-55 drivers and find something compatible.
