Hi all -

I have Comcast for my HD Cable service (DVR box - Motorola DCT6412) attached via HDMI to a new Harman Kardon AVR-354 receiver (Torino video processing chipset), and into a Panasonic 50" TH-85PZU plasma display.

The HD cable video signal comes in as 1080i. If I set it to 480i, so my receiver does all the processing to 1080p, am i processing HD material twice? I'm concerned that I am processing DOWN to 480i and the UP again to 1080p. The reason I'm even doing this is because the HK receiver I have has a Torino chip that is supposed to be one of the better scaling/processing chips.

I don't think that's a good idea. Feed it 1080i and let it deinterlace to 1080p for best results (IMHO).

Agreed!
