So I just got a Pioneer 51fd with the hi speed HDMI output that increases output from 24 bit color to 36 bit color and it works with my HDQ and RS1u. I should not get a picture or at least see excessive banding due to truncated bits yet I don't see much of a difference. Any Idea's why it works? I plan to just leave it off because I really don't see much of a difference. I'll have to try different BD's and check it more. It really shouldn't work.

IS the HDQ HDMI 1.3 enabled? If not, that could be the reason you are seeing no difference.
I am not expecting it to look better but truncating bits should cause some problems and I am not seeing it. When I get my DVE disc I'll check it out and see if banding looks any better or worse. It should look worse unless the HDQ can accept high bit color.

I bet the Pioneer 51fd is reading the EDID info off the Lumagen and not enabling the higher bits...

Looks like a really nice player too. All that audio decoding and I could do with 22 second load times!
