Hey guys, the model of the Rear Projection TV is a Samsung SP42Q2HL, its rather old (4 years) and its been broken for about a year now, today i got it out of the basement and would like to get it working again so i can give it to my brother for his new apartment.

As you can see from the video I have attached below, the image is distorted and warped, also its really fuzzy and grainy. The worst distortion occurs at the edges, the center is not as distorted as you can see from the video.

This happened roughly a year ago, I was just sitting there watching TV and suddenly it blew out, there was this strange burning smell coming from the back. I couldnt be bothered fixing it so I stored it away, I took it out today and tried it again, the problem persists and there is still a burning smell coming from the back once you turn on the TV.

Im aware that this is a CRT projector so there is no lamp, i cant really figure out whats wrong because i know nothing about TVs, if someone can give me some insight as to what the problem actually is and how I can go about fixing it it would be really great.

the resolution on that video was so low that I am not sure how were supposed to see any picture quality issues with the TV.

Anyway. Since the TV is 4 only years old. I would call samsung.
You may be surprised what they will give to a persistent customer.
