I just recently purchased an LN52a550. I love it, however I'm unable to program my Comcast/Motorola cable box remote to use it. The Comcast remote manual offers the following codes for Samsung TVs: 0060, 0030, 0178, 0056, 0702. None work for me. Following the instructions to search for my code doesn't help me either.

I've done a ton of searching on avsforums and haven't found an answer to this problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Additionally, has anyone been successful in controlling their Comcast/Motorola cable box with their Samsung remote?

Thanks,
juan234

Hey Juan,

Maybe you've already resolved this, but if not... I have the ln40a550 and had success using the 0060 code. I did it quickly the other day and haven't had time to mess with it too much, but I do know it allows me power on/off, control volume, and change inputs. That was the first code I tried, so I'm not sure about the others.

If ln52a550 remote is the same as the one that came with the ln40a550, it's not programmable so you won't be able to control the cable box with it. I also have an older Samsung (lnt3242h) that has a programmable remote which works with the cable box. In fact, it also works with the 550, so I've swapped the two (as the 42h is hooked directly to cable without a box), as the 550 remote works with the 42h.

Good luck.

I have the 52a850 and used the 10060, but it only controls the power, the other features do not work so well.

You should probably use TV/10702. The difference is that the repeat functions should work correctly with this code.

Thanks, I will try that.

Ok I did and get limited functions, like the menus and source changes.

Thanks

mdavej's post above is a bit cryptic, but is very useful, so I will explain since you might find it helpful in adding in more functions.
You can use something called advanced codes to program in functions not built into the remote. Do the following to use mdavej's list to add the functions in to your Comcast remote if they are missing:

1. Press and release TV device button
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 994
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type the code above with "00" in front of the code (i.e. for POWER use 00183, not 183)
6. Press and release the button you want to assign the function to

The remote should blink twice to confirm. Repeat steps 2-6 for each of the functions you want to program in.

Thanks mjdave for the codes and Kupaki for the clear instructions. This is very helpful.

mdavej's codes were very helpful to program the remote.
For PIP I was able to program for powere and the channel up/down.

Are there any codes for swap and move?

You could try pip swap 217, but move doesn't seem to exist.

I tried, but swap button didn't work. I do believe it did something though because when I selected the "tv/vcr" button below the "input" button I was able to swap!
This button was not functional before.
Thanks!
