I meet with the "low voltage" guy next week to figure out where to have cable TV outlets, security system and if you choose speaker wires run (builders use crap that looks like telephone wire). All of this stuff needs to be figured out before the actual construction begins so the foundation is not even poured yet. Here is my question, I will be going with a 5.1 surround system, ceiling mounted PJ and fixed screen. I will have a pre/pro, amp, Wii, DVD player, BR player, Comcast HD box and that should about do it. I installed my previous system and had a drop ceiling and easy access to everything. Now with a finished drywalled room I need to make sure I figure out what I want and where I want it!
Run to ceiling where PJ will be: Electrical outlet, 2 HMDI cables (do I need component or Cat5??)
My new pre/pro will have HDMI so do I need to run 2 HDMI cables to the PJ or will one do?
Anything else I should consider? I am going to run my own speaker wire before the drywall goes up or if not I will run along baseboards and will cover them up. Do i go with 7.1 although I watch mostly HD sports and an occasional movie and concert dvd?
Thanks.
