Ok, don't flame me for asking this question, I just need a simple answer.

What remote do you think would work best for a 5 year old to control the following:

1. Tivo
2. DVD
3. Polariod TV

Obviously I am looking for something simple. Do I go with a Harmony, already have 2 in the house, or a weemote dv?

Don't underestimate your 5yo. I too have a 5 and 12 yo. They both assimilate technology with ease.

My 5yo, can pause/play and control the volume. She can't really read yet, so I don't expect her to be able to use the guide or the list.

Anyhow, I have an old Universal Remote URC-200. I am not recommending that remote. I think anyone that meets your needs, the kids will figure out with a little guidance.

YMMV, Carl

I agree that small kids can operate a regular remote just fine. My biggest concern would be that they would drop my $400 remote or spill kool aid on it. You get the idea. THIS (http://www.uei.com/images/uploaded_images/Cricket%20Kids%20Remote_ps.pdf) one is designed for kids and should have the codes for your devices.

That would be good if it had dvr functions. Most of the things she watches are recorded.

I just bought this one at Walmart for $20. It has Tivo specific functions built into it. I use it with my DVR from the cable company and it works great.

Plus it's cheap, so if they ruin it, you wont be out much!

HERE'S (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3031611) a another option for $10. It's a very simple universal remote with backlight, lots of codes, learning, macros and DVR buttons. The next model (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2956512) up has more buttons for the same price. On either one you could put activities (macros) on just about any of the buttons to make things even simpler for the kids.
