To make a long story short, I'm limited to the LCD HDTV models at Costco to replace my Costco Philips LCD that just failed. Do you guys know of anything bad about the Sony Bravia 1080P LCDs? I haven't heard of any bad things, but I've been out of the loop for a couple of years. I dont wanna get stuck with junk like the Philips...nice picture but fails quickly, and it cost me a grand and a half.:(
The Sony that I'm leaning real hard towards...some specs/description below:

I've got one and it's very nice for an LCD. Not as nice as the new Samsung models, but still an 8.5/10.

were you limited to lcd only? could you of gotten plasma if you wanted? despite all the issues lcd brings and only advantage is reflection ~ IF its not a glossy screen (matte screen should be the right coat)

nope, I could have gotten anything in Costco that was in the $1600~$1700 range, because I had a $1300 costco cash card from my defective Philips return, and the wife was willing to shell out 300~400 bucks. The Sony LCD jumped right out at me...right price, 46" screen, 1080P, 120Hz, nice colors, a whole lot of adjustments...good lord I've spent hours adjusting it. I've got it now where its really nice, WoW.

The screen is not too glossy, so I'll call it matte. My former Philips LCD screen had a better matte, but thats ok...the Sony is an eye popper for me. Some of the programs I've watched are extremely realistic and clear, especially the 720P and 1080i channels of course. But there are some 480i channels that look fantastic also.

Next up...hooking up the DVD Player to the TV thru HDMI and using 1080P. That should blow us away too. :)

well enjoy your tv set and sorry if i sound like im against lcd but really it has flaws and is un natrually brighter then it should be, it just fails in areas where plasma is useful

black levels clouds uneven uniformly viewing angles mura motion blurr motion resolution S & A and so on...

the lcd give more of that fake pop fluid wet look, the plasma give more a of a realistic rich vibrant colors.

try a dark scene and your lcd will fail with shadow detail and if too much black you will have crushed blacks....

once again sorry that im giving everything about lcd its just that i see people coming back and saying this or that in regards to whatever tv technology.

give plasma try worse case senerio it doesnt dice and return it. enjoy your tv
