I originally had this Toshiba TW40X81 calibrated by an ISF certified technician back in 2001. In the process, the speaker output was deactivated. The deactivation was not done in the user menu.

Now, the TV has a new duty - display (and sound) for the kids video games. I know, burn in, but whatever.

Unfortunately the sound thing isn't happening. Obviously, I've tried turning the speaker output on in the user menu, but thas has no effect. I've also roamed the service and designer menus in hopes that the setting was made there, but don't see a code that looks like anything remotely correct.

Does anyone know if there is a code(s) in there service/designer menus that controls this? My fear is he physically disconnected some wires inside the unit and I hate to poke around in there.

Any ideas? I know I'm reaching here, but thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Mine has a switch on the back to turn off audio. Probably switched to off?
