My power went out on sunday due to severe storm, and didnt come back on until earlier today.

During the storm, trees fell, transformers swayed on their mounts, roofs got blown off, power poles and wires fell, and there were severe power outages, all of our refrigerator food spoiled,( ) I havent been over to my mothers house to check all my HT gear and stuff, but I bet its all fine seince its on a brand new surge protector.

I will ask do power outages cause you to loose AM-FM radio presets?

My power was out for 25 hours last weekend when hurricane Ike came through. My receiver (Panasonic XR55) remembered all of it's various settings including the FM presets.

It depends on the specific gear.

Time to purchase a generator. I bought one in my old house, just to power emergency items, such as the fridge, heat, TV and electricity in one room, the microwave. Then the three day power outage on the East coast occurred and I really appreciated having all those emergency backups. When I moved to this new house, I put the entire house on a generator... It has been well worth the investment. I can go around two weeks living like normal without any power with a full tank of propane.

Jeeze! I hope you did not loose your radio presets. Never mind the food, roofs, houses, trees, people. You better rush over to your mothers house to see if you lost those precious radio presets! They might be OK, or maybe not - depends on how they were stored - if you did loose the presets maybe you should write them down and store them in a safe and undisclosed location just in case this happens again ;)

Or, just run a long extension cord to Q's house!

Now that is just completely absurd; you can't listen to my stereo through an extension cord!

No I will be listening while i run the cable, but i will be sitting in the soundstage for at least two hours before I start running that cord. :p

I know that if I'd had a power issue... my primary concern would be if my receiver retained the AM/FM presets at Mommy's house.

Hopefully you checked on Mom first.

Hey QC, what KVA is the generator? I've always wondered the type of generator needed to run a whole house.
