OK so my color wheel sounds so bad I finally called a technician over to get it fix. It costs $250 for a new wheel + labor. The guy showed up, then started to go to the back of my my HLP TV and started removing the back panel. Had to stop the guy I turned the TV on while he was in the back so he can listen to the noise he said Yes it's the Color Wheel. He slide out whole panel removed the color wheel and replaced with a new one. He told me the wheel is not broken but there was scratches on the wheel that's what made the noise. yes I can see the long worn out scratch on part of the wheel. He put everything back so I turned on the TV to make sure it works. The noise is gone but now the picture is all bad, looks laminated, wet pictures. Go to the menu screen and it's all Red. He said there was no way removing the color wheel could have caused that, but my picture was fine before it was only the noise. Can someone please help me with this? What could have cause this? He has taken the whole panel with him saying he has to recalibrate the picture modulator or something like that, it will take 3 days. Could he have done something that could have created this whole mess? Please Help??

According to my HLR service manual, after replacing the color wheel you need to go into the service menu and adjust the Index Delay and CCA. The adjustments are 6 and 7 step procedures, each (but they look easy in the manual). You can get a service manual for your tv at samsungparts.com and do the procedures if you are comfortable with the service menu.

Or in your case, you can have the tech who replaced it, come back and do the adjustments. That should fix the problems you are having. I believe the procedure would be the same or similar for your model tv.

Oh my god and this technician didn't know that, man just my luck if that's the case. Thanks for your help, I'll call him now. He took the whole panel in the TV with him, can't do anything.

There is ofcourse, the remote possibility, that something else could be broken as well. Tho a service tech should at least have a service manual to follow when doing repairs. Hope it all works out well.

He said the whole optical module has to be replaced, some chip went bad. Also, he said there isn't a need to recalibrate anything after the changing of the color wheel. Since I don't have the service manual for the HLP series so can't tell. Part is back-order for 4 weeks, no TV.
