For the past few months I have had trouble viewing a few HD channels, mainly 206 and 245. If they come in at all, they are screwed up. However, 73 and 75 come in just fine. This past Sunday, I was unable to watch ANY of the HD feeds on Sunday Ticket. I have the Superfan package.

I called up Directv and explained the problem to a tech. She told me that those feeds are running off the 99 satellite and talked me through to the signal meter. I was told that my numbers were way too low and that's the reason I wasn't pulling in the signals. It was raining, but everything else she had me check was in the low 90's, while on the 99 satellite it was in the 20's. She thought it might be an lnb issue and scheduled a tech to come out.

He came out today, checked my signals, and said that everything was fine. I told him what the tech said and he told me the 99 wasn't even up and running, and that those HD feeds are still using one of the satellites that is coming in fine for me. I asked him why then did I only lose those particular feeds, and he told me that because it was raining that day and the HD feeds are the first to go. He checked nothing on my dish. I signed no paperwork.

I'm not sure who to believe. I know that on a perfectly clear day/night such as tonight that I still can't get in 245 or 206. I checked the 99 signal again and it was in the low 50's. I do know that I'm not happy about paying for a service (Superfan) that is unusable to me. I would be happy to post up my signal numbers if someone can tell me exactly what to look for; maybe that will help me out. The bottom line is that I'm not getting the services that I pay for and I want it fixed. Either the tech or the repair guy lied to me. Thanks for any help.

The tech that came to your house fed you a line of BS. D11 is where the MPEG4 feeds of 206 and 245 along with the Superfan channels live and it's in the 99 spot. Unfortunately you'll need to call for another service call.

I agree with mjones 73--you need another service call. Those channels come in fine for me.

Agree with the others, your tech was lazy. Even DirecTV will say that you should have a reading of at least 70 (really should shoot for upper 80's lower 90's as the low end). So call them back, tell them it's a clear day and you have a reading of 50 on 99(c) and your picture is breaking up and unwatchable and you want a different tech out to fix it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I spoke to tech support again today and they got on the horn with both the service tech and his supervisor. They offered to send that tech over immediately but I refused. I explained that it would do no good because he didn't believe there was a problem to fix, so why send him? His supervisor then contacted me directly and is coming out tomorrow morning to see for himself. A satellite or lnb issue seems most logical to me, since everything else is working fine. I'll insist that he checks them for alignment, possible wiring issues, and overall repair. He was courteous to me and I expect he will get to the bottom of it.

I also asked to speak with retention and was able to get Superfan credited back to my account.

You probably have poor signals on 99c (99a if you have a receiver) and/or 103c (103b if you have a receiver) and if so alignment is by far the most likely problem. Don't worry about 99s/b and 103s/a, they carry only spotbeams so will have lost of low and zero signals.
