Hi All,

OK, I have a chance to get some really high quality "in-ceiling" speakers cheap. I am using them for background music in my kitchen, which is 10'x12' although volume diminished by cabinets and appliances. I have a few old AVRs & ARs laying around; so I could do either a 2-Speaker True Stereo setup, or a 4 speaker "All Channel Stereo" type setup. In much bigger rooms I have used the 4 speaker method, to allow for a more saturated sound at lower volumes; however, in this case the smaller room might lend itself more to the 2-Speaker setup. The units are 2-way, with a 1" tweeter and an 8" woofer.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You are probably only going to be listening to them at relatively low volume, so why spend the additional dollars to get four when two would be plenty? In an area that small, even if you crank them loud, they will give you a decent sound stage.

They are 75% off, and will only cost me $62/pair so it isn't that much extra. And I have an older 5.1 AVR just sitting around. Believe it or not I listen to the music fairly loud in the kitchen, usually my dual turbine exhaust hood is running (as well as other appliances); not to mention the perpetual noise of my 8yo girl triplets, who are chatting or arguing ad infinitum (that alone is worth the $65:D). I think I just answered my own question...

Why not a pair for each of them??? ;)

I'll put a pair in the ceilings of each of their bedrooms, and pipe in some of that fancy "BOSE Noise Cancellation" frequency... brilliant!

Excellent idea...having three girls myself, I know the problems associated with that, but not to the degree you have with them being the same age!

In rooms where you hear just one speaker in spots I suggest wiring up for monaural as opposed to stereo or 4.0 sound. It is disconcerting to go into a store or restaurant and hear only the bass and vocal or only saxophone and rhythm guitar because only one sound channel was within earshot.
