first post here.

Two days ago I purchased a 50 inch panasonic plasma 720 p model model 50PX80U . I really like the tv. It ran me 1150 after price matching at bestbuy. So today I receive word that my fiances boss (who is friend of family) bought us an LG 50 inch plasma 720 p the 50PG20 model for our wedding gift and I was told to pick it up today. Talk about timing. Anyways I really want to keep the gift and just pack the Panasonic back up. Is the LG as good? I mean its gonna save me 1200 bucks so I guess its probably at least worth that.

Any feedback is welcome.

I'd return the Panasonic. It is better than the LG in some ways (mainly black level and IR resistance) but personally I'd rather have $1200. The LG will also have more accurate color, the option to turn off overscan, and vastly more picture tweaking options.

I would keep both. You can put one for your main TV room and then one for the bedroom. You could even use the LG for a computer monitor if you wanted to. Just a thought.

Definitely give the Panasonic back. The LG is more than good enough and since its a wedding gift, you can't really turn it down and your fiances boss will be really chuffed when he/she sees it setup in your home :)

Get your 1200 back. The difference between the 2 is far less than than having 1200 bucks in your pocket. Use the money on your honeymoon.

I decided to bring back the panny. Setup the LG and it looks great. The black isnt as good but its still pretty damn good. Also , the tv bezel it self is actually nicer looking than the panny.
