What do they cover on LCDs and Plasmas?

Do you have to ship them to the manufacture and pay for the shipping?

How many dead pixel have to die before they replace them?

If any one could give me the run through or give me a website with info ... it would be greatfully appreciated.

I want to make sure customers are getting accurate info

Most manufacturers websites have their warranty policy available for reading. As far as dead pixels, it varies and I have seen where people have had their sets replaced with less than the acceptable amount of dead pixels so it seems to be a case by case situation. As far as in house, I had a 32" Panasonic LCD that was covered with in house warranty but they eventually had to take the panel in to do some further testing that wasn't available on site so again it's a case by case situation but for the most part most large TV's are covered by on site service as the service companies don't really want to be responsible for any damage that may occur in transporting.

I read the pannys manufature warranty... its pretty good

sonys is a pos.... They can choose to fix or replace your TV with new or refurbished items.... and they only do a in home diagnostic for the first year and if it needs to be repaired you have to pay to have it shipped out and needs to be in the original box or packaged in a way sony service center specifies

I own a Vizio and there's is - a one year in house service for set's 30 inch's and up. Zero Bright pixels guarantee (the only one I know that cover's that) .

I'm pretty happy with their warranty.

Yeah I too was a little interested in their wording for in home. But they said it's so they can see if the problem warrants sending out a repairman. For example if someone totally new to HDTV's and such calls in to have repair done because they see black bars on the side while viewing SD, or if someone hooks up compent cables wrong and everything is green. So it's basically to see if the problem can't first be figured out on the phone and then go from there. And they also said it's wording is too also make sure that what damage is done is under warranty, So if little Timmy throw's a baseball bat into the TV that obviously isn't covered.

I did, but I got it through BJ's though, at $39 for 2 years, it also has in home repair service as well.

So I have Vizio's first year manf. warranty and BJ's (AIG backed LOL ) ext. warranty for a total of 3 years. I'm happy with it.
