I will be running the wires for my rear surround sound speakers through the wall. I will need to run about 30 feet of wire from the receiver to the spakers. I am going to use 14AWG wires. Most likely: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2820&seq=1&format=2

My front and center channel wires will not be in the wall and they will only be 4-8 feet from the receiver. Should I also use 14AWG wires for these shorter connections or should I use something else such as 16AWG wire? Does it even matter?

Thanks!

There is no harm in using thicker wires for shorter runs. The only reason to use the minimum gauge, would be cost savings (really a non-issue with monoprice wire). I always just buy bulk of the correct gauge for the longest run, and use it on the entire project; the bulk savings usually offsets anything I would save on the smaller wire.
