I'm adding some bookshelves to my PC, and I need a sub. The use will be mostly for music, with about 20-25% casual movie/tv watching. I'm thinking about the Hsu stf-1, but I'm wondering if it's going to be big enough. The room is 12x15 with wood floors, standard 8 foot ceiling, so it's well within the recommended size on the hsu site. would just like to hear from someone who has one, or has heard one, for confirmation that it's going to be big enough.

I think I've ruled out the bic h-100 that are mentioned a lot b/c from what I've been reading it seems like the hsu would be better for music. Not sure about dayton - it's better for the budget, but do I understand right that the Hsu is probably just in a different league? I'm more interested in quality sound here vs. quantity. Is there anything else I should be considering?

thanks!

> edit: budget is right around $300 - don't really want to spend much more since I'm planning to upgrade my HT, too.

no one, huh?

I think I'll pass on the sft-1. At $300 for just an 8" driver and only going to 32hz, it seems like it's overpriced for the size. There's got to be better deals out there than that.

Since you are probably not going to be far away from the sub, the Hsu, or something like the above would do wonders for ya.
