maybe we can shame some locals into using a more discrete less obtrusive bug by comparing and ranking them; even better, maybe some folks could create some beter replacement suggestions

Well, I'm certanially not a fan of the persistent bug, but given that we now have to live with these things, I'm partial to the ones w/ less letters/clutter/color and more transparency.

The SF one seems to be the least obtrusive of the bunch.

Thanks for the comparisons. It would be great if we could end up shaming them into something beneficial.
