Hello folks,

This may be a silly question, and actually, as I write this, I think I may have just answered it for my self. Here it is anyway...My subwoofer has its own gain/crossover/phase control knobs. My receiver (Elite VSX94) also allows me to control the crossover point. I have the gain where I want it, the phase control I'm still playing with, but I'm wondering where to set the sub's crossover at when I have the receiver set at 80hz. If the receiver is only sending bass frequencies below 80hz, does it make sense to turn the sub's crossover all the way up? Does that make sense?

You could set your subs xo out and use the AVR to set the xover, in your case 80hz. If you add other subs or mid bass subs then you might need to start setting your xo in.

Xover all the way up is correct...............:)

You answered your own question *correctly*. You don't want to cascade crossovers. Use the one in your receiver and disable the one in the sub if possible. If not, set it to it's highest point.
