Iam New Home Buyer (1st Home) with a dedicated Media Room.
The Builder pre wired 7.1 Speaker Cabling.

(1). I could only see ONE Wall Plate in the Center (Below the Screen Location)
I could see the 7.1 Speaker Wires Terminating at that point.
(2). Now my question is - I dont see any wall plates for the 7 Individual Wall Plates (I think the wire are behind the Drywall).
How do i figure out the other end of each wire? Are there any Tools?
(3). Also i think the Speaker wire the builder used is a 16AWG - How hard is it to replace this wire with little drywall cuts?

Thanks!

I really really hope that the builder in some way marked where he ran the speaker wire...if not...eek.

Not unusual. The builder's low voltage contractor didn't mark the locations because now you have to call them and once you call them, they'll be after your business.

On the other hand, one can tone out the wires and find exactly where they run. The tone tracers can run between $75 and $100 and virtually anyone in the low voltage installation business will have one.

They have wire locater tools at HD/Ls. Basically it is a little signal generator that you hook up to the wire where you can see it. Then there is a hand held detector that you can move around the room looking for a signal. When you get the signal The wire is somewhere behind the drywall.

$50 ish.
