I'm planning to purchase a sub soon:
$700 budget
2,600 cu.ft room
60/40 HT-M
Polk RTi-A5 floorstanding main speakers

Sub physical size is a concern for me.
I was thinking about the SVS SB12-Plus which seems to be one of the best small box.
The ML Dynamo is not loud enough, the Abyss is over my budget.

SVS SB12-Plus has a 15"x14" footprint
This is ideal for me as I don't need to move any furniture around.

but then I saw the Epik Valor for $120 less after shipping
The Valor's 17" x 22" footprint and may work with some furniture being moved around.

Can someone give inputs if the Epik Valor would have:
1. better loudness
2. better extension
3. similar SQ as the SVS SB12-Plus

If there are other brand-model that comes to mind, let me know too.
Thanks!

The Valor will probably offer a good deal more output as well as deeper extension. Price/performance, the Valor is likely the clear winner. The SB12-Plus is a quality small sub, but it's better used in small rooms, and in a room your size it might struggle to produce a powerful home theater experience. If you can fit the Valor, don't need a nice wood veneer finish, and can stand to wait a month or so, the Valor is probably the better choice. However, if time is of the essence, the size of the SB12-Plus is a really big deal, and you won't be listening at very high levels, the SB12-Plus could work. But if I were you, I'd probably go with the Valor. Hopefully some owners of these subs will chime in to help you more. Good luck.

Don't know if you can fit this in your room or not. If you can, it is a very good sounding sub according to several reliable sources.

You buy the driver, amp and enclosure as a package and the company assembles it for you. $800 assemebled.

Scroll down to see pictures of the assembled units.

My understanding is that this is an excellent sub for music oriented systems, but that it also plays louder and lower than the SVS SB-12 Plus.

Do a search in this forum of the rythmik(audio) and you can get some more info.

Thanks guys for the input.

The rythmikaudio 15" sealed sub is really pushing too big at 19" width, and at $800 it's a bit of a stretch. Unless someone can convincingly say its SQ is reaaally good, then I'd skip this.

Rythmikaudio also has a 12" sealed sub that is about the SVS SB-12 Plus' size, any idea if this is better? Sadly it's nearly the same price as the 15" version.

Anyone else want to give me inputs?

I'm now also considering the SVS 25-31 PCi too.

How would the 25-31 PCi compare with the Epik Valor in terms of SQ and SPL?
