Dans une galaxie près de chez vous 2 (IMDB) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1165276/)

The series chronicles the long, futuristic voyage of a team of Québécois space explorers looking for a planet capable of sustaining life, in the year 2034, after the destruction of the ozone layer through excessive human pollution, prompting the need for a new planet to welcome humankind. The seven crew members venture outside their own galaxy to explore other star system in search of a new planet large enough to sustain 6 billion people. The few habitable planets encountered are ultimately abandoned either because they are already occupied (emphasizing the wrong-doing of invading other civilizations and cultures), or because upon closer inspection they are found to have other problems (cow-sized mosquitoes, high radiation levels, dog overpopulation, unsuitable living environment.

I preordered this blu-ray about 2 weeks ago.(apox. $35 CDN) it should ship tommorow and I will see it by weeks end.the film(s) should have english subs as the DVDs did.(The blu-ray on amazon.ca list subs but there is no information on what kind, I'd guess english) what im not sure about is what film it is the 2nd movie comes to DVD tommorow. the blu-ray on amazon says its the first. other sites say both are there while a few say its the second. the picture would indacate both. either way the show should be good. if i like it enough im going to get the complete series on DVD. which does have english subs.

when i get the film(s) i will report back on PQ/AQ and over all movie plot and such. the french blu-ray amélie that i got from canada last week had a preview of Dans une galaxie près de chez vous 2 on it. amélie as well as the previews were all french with no subs what so ever. so I will have to see if this blu-ray is the same or not

well, my order shiped from canada this morrning. i got the shipped email yesterday. so i should have this by weeks end. so a one week delay isnt to bad

there is still very little information on the blu-ray. but acording to the films homepage a TVA films. the blu-ray includes both films. however if the specs are correct the film only has french subs for the hearing impared. still cant say for sure as the information appears to be copyed over from the second dvds Information page. but i would really like english subs. but if there is atleast frnch im OK with that.

1 disc set containing two films on a BD 50

Dans une galaxie près de chez vous 1
canada import
video: 1.78:1 1080i
audio:french 2.0 dolbly stereo
subs: NONE *french audio only*
really didn't get a chance to watch the first film yet, but I will try this week end. but a bref scan, it looked good

Dan Une Galaxie Près de Chez Vous 2
canada import
video: 1:78.1 1080i
audio: french 5.1 TrueHD, french 5.1 DD.
subs: English.

I watched the second film today. in terms of plot it was a very goofy film but funny over all. I would recomend the film.
the PQ was good as was the AQ given the lower budget of the movie and show. which can be seen in many scences in fact they make fun of there cheepness at some points...

in terms of extras there are few but all in french with no subs at all.

Thanks to the poster above for the detailed pictures of the BD cover art and info. I too am a Duggie and am looking forward to seeing the movie sequel to this hilarious sci-fi spoof. It appears that the sequel is the same as the first film with regard to audio track and subtitles: French audio only and Eng. subtitles only. Too bad, really. I know enough French to follow along, and Fre subtitles would be great to confirm and aid my French. BD has plenty of room for many subtitle tracks, so they had no excuse apart from laziness.

Also, given that most subtitle users are not necessarily hard of hearing, they missed out on pleasing the French-speaking market with captions in their own language.

With regard to the member who intends to get the whole TV series too. I can heartily recommend the show in addition to the movies. However, take note that there are NO subtitles on the TV series sets whatsoever, regardless of what online retailers have listed. Brush up on your French if you want to follow along on the half-hour TV shows.

Re: DUG 1. It seems that this BD set has special features only on the second film, but omits the Special Edition features of the first movie. There was a nice 2-disc set in SD DVD for DUG Le Film back in 2004 that I can recommend. As with the sequel, the bonus features are in Fre only and with no subtitle options. The TV series Coffret Collection includes a DVD of the first film, too, but without any bonus features.

yeah, the first film seems to just be thrown on there as a extra as its 2.0 stereo with no subs at all.

all the extras are related to the 2nd film.

but, I agree french subs would have been nice. I know very little french at this point but subs have really helped me follow along better. atleast in terms of learning
