September 22, 2008 o Burlington, MA - Zoë Vision/Anthem Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of the Snakes & Arrows Live DVD on November 25 from the legendary rock trio RUSH. This 3 disc DVD set, also available as a Blu-ray Disc, follows their Zoë Vision DVD releases Rush-R30 (2005) and Rush in Rio (2003).
This is excellent news!
txfilmguy 09-22-08, 05:40 PM aaargh! I thought I was done collecting Rush concert videos with R30. I've gotta have 'em in HD though.
cnikirk 09-22-08, 05:49 PM This my friends is beyond awesome. I can't wait to see the boys in HD glory.
eapleitez 09-22-08, 06:49 PM Ohh yeessss! YOu got my saliva flowing now! I'm a huge Rush fan and I will definitely be looking forward to this. I saw this tour and the two previous ones and they were absolutely amazing (of course) :D
I wonder if they will go back and release R30 on blu. I have a 720p version of that on my laptop.
kinglerxt 09-22-08, 08:22 PM Finally
as a huge Rush fan since 1984, its about time we get some Rush in HiDef
Alex was my inspiration to learn to play the guitar and get info music as part of my life . Wouldnt be the same without Rush
Been to over 15 of their concerts over the years
the 30th anniversary tour was amazing
Hope they can keep it going but you never know when time will stand still for Geddy, Alex and Neil...
Would love to see Dream Theater in HD as well but they prob cant sell enough units to justify the addtional BD disc for their shows,... just yet :)

Partyslammer 09-22-08, 08:43 PM .........I wish Van Halen would have followed through and released their live dvd/blu-ray filmed primarily at their MSG show earlier this year before the holidays (if they ever release it at all).
Regarding this latest Rush blu-ray, from what I hear all the bonus footage was filmed in standard definition, not HiDef. I wonder if they'll include it on the blu-ray release or leave it only for the massive 3 dvd set?
BTW, was either R30 or Rush in Rio filmed in hiDef? I'd actually prefer either of those releases on blu-ray to this newest one.
T.B.

Yes, both of those were filmed in HD. I actually have an 11 GB file of R30 in 720p on my laptop (don't worry, I bought the DVD on its day of release). Rush in Rio also used HD cameras, with the exception of the static camera behind Peart. They used a tiny camera back there because, I believe, Peart complained about being distracted by a larger camera back there. On the DVD you can see the reduced quality of those particular shots. It's the reason why that DVD set is not anamorphic. A big DOH! on that one.
HD-FANATIC 09-22-08, 10:53 PM As many have remarked, this is great news. BIG RUSH fan here and can't wait for this in HD. I have enjoyed watching the Canadian trio since 1980, Moving Pictures tour and all the subsequent tours. I lost all hope for them when they turned out these albums, Counterparts • Test for Echo • Vapor Trails . Snakes and arrows proved they still have the stuff and they went back to their roots, helps to have a young producer/engineer that likes there older material.
Back on topic looking forward to this release and it'll go in the library

Dude, off-topic but you didn't like Vapor Trails? That album had some good stuff on it. Earthshine!!!
shadowrage 09-23-08, 01:19 AM Would love to see Dream Theater in HD as well but they prob cant sell enough units to justify the addtional BD disc for their shows,... just yet :)
Dream Theaters awesome, but for metal that will really test your system I think Slipknot would be just the ticket. Talk about the full audio spectrum, they can put on a show too.
Back on topic. Neil Pert's drum kit and actual drumming in HD. I'm there. Between this and the Who the concert discs are really bringing it. Rush on BD = must buy.
eapleitez 09-23-08, 01:19 AM I'll take it even further, Counterparts is very underrated, I think it's really great. My favorite instrumental is on there (Leave That Thing Alone). TFE is kinda not so great, but it has a number of good tracks on there. Besides, a low point Rush album is STILL a marvelous thing. ;)
Cygnus311 09-23-08, 07:48 AM Awwwwwwwwwwwwww yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bigvinny 09-23-08, 08:36 PM PCM audio is going to be sweet !!!!
Tech specs will see the complete concert spread across two Blu-ray discs, presented in 1080p video (1.78:1) with English PCM 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio options.
Extras on the third disc include a four-song "bootleg" mini-concert, the "What's That Smell?" featurette, outtakes, alternate takes of songs, and the bonus track "Red Sector A."
One of my favorite bands of all time. Have seen them on every tour since Permanent Waves in 1980. Will definitely pick this up.
robertrobyn 09-24-08, 12:33 AM Oh!!!!!!!!! My!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait til 11/25 im a big rush fan saw them 3 times on this tour and was pretty darn good.
RowdyRoddy 09-24-08, 07:02 AM We saw this tour in Jacksonville, FL and laughed our faces off after seeing Robert Englund in the background videos.
KnightLerxst 09-24-08, 08:03 AM Awesome. Now if they would just release the complete R30 show on Blu.
Cygnus311 09-24-08, 10:44 AM They just might. Eapleitez said it was filmed in HD. This release (along with Heat) will make waiting for my new sound system (next spring-ish) unbearable.
dionysus2112 10-30-08, 11:08 AM This will be an awesome Blu Ray to add to the collection, I own every Rush DVD. But Blu Ray on my new BDP51, and PDP5020FD will no doubt be heaven.

This thread died out, so let me revive it. Jeez, if this isn't a great release! DTS HD Master is absolutely fantastic. There are times when watching this when Geddy's bass just absolutely purrs--you'll know what I mean when you hear it. The audio mix is the best thing about this disc. If you're a Rush fan, there is no excuse for not getting a hold of this. It just does not get better than this.

I respect your opinion, but a LOT of people disagree with your audio impressions on this one. IMO this surround audio mix is terrible. Check out some of the reactions in this thread.....
