If that is the case...What are we waiting to recreate CINERAMA deep curved screens at home?

How The West Was Won.

According to my quick research on Wikipedia, only one other movie used the Cinerama process, which was some Brothers Grimm movie. There were also some documentaries that used it. So I doubt it can be applied to just any cinemascope film.

The MGM that was in Bournmouth in the UK had a curved screen, it showed lots of flicks that way

Cinerama is a special presentation/filming process that used three independent projectors to display the movie theatrically. If you noticed, HTWWW has a ridiculously wide aspect ratio for the letterboxed version (2.89:1 - even wider than 65/70mm films such as Ben-Hur, which is 2.76:1). If a traditional scope movie (~2.35:1) were "smileboxed," it wouldn't look accurate, as HTWWW does.
