According to my quick research on Wikipedia, only one other movie used the Cinerama process, which was some Brothers Grimm movie. There were also some documentaries that used it. So I doubt it can be applied to just any cinemascope film. dvdmike007 09-22-08, 07:08 PM The MGM that was in Bournmouth in the UK had a curved screen, it showed lots of flicks that way luigionlsd 09-22-08, 07:09 PM Cinerama is a special presentation/filming process that used three independent projectors to display the movie theatrically. If you noticed, HTWWW has a ridiculously wide aspect ratio for the letterboxed version (2.89:1 - even wider than 65/70mm films such as Ben-Hur, which is 2.76:1). If a traditional scope movie (~2.35:1) were "smileboxed," it wouldn't look accurate, as HTWWW does. |
