View Full Version : Just Upgraded to Polk Audio RTi A7's.
Vagrant Pistol 09-23-08, 03:22 AM So I decide to upgrade my 5.1 system in my bedroom. I bought the Polk Audio RTi A7's (real wood) which are replacing my PA monitor 50's (great speakers by the way) as my fronts. I will be buying the RTi A6 center, RT I A3 surrounds, and an SVsound PB12-NSD as my sub. Here's the pics of my RTi A7. Huge speaker.:D
UPDATE: Post 14 has a picture of the box that the RTi came in and a pic of the Power Port Plus in the lower back of the speaker.
spectrumbx 09-23-08, 09:00 AM Congrats!
That's a bit much for a bedroom. Don't you think?
The only thing I have in my bedroom is an alarm/radio. LOL! :D
I got the RTi8 and R50 myself, and I am looking for two good subs to pair to the RTi8.
I am close to pulling the trigger on the BIC H-100.

Yeah it is. The reason I'm doing it is because I will be moving and all this will end up in the living room. I'm still waiting for the other one, which leaves me wondering what they sound like. Never heard of that sub before. It sounds good by the description and the price is right. Wouldn't 2 be overkill? Especially with the RTis.
I decided on an svsound sub through recommendation by one of the svsound reps (they were extremely helpful on helping me pick the one that would be right) and a friend of mine has the PB12. That thing rocks!!!! My polk sub is a childs toy! lol
jnickrand 09-23-08, 03:03 PM Congrats. Those pictures really show off how much more speaker you are getting there. I'm envious.

RTIA6 as a center?
You may get better dialogue dispersion/performance by swapping that out and going for a true center like the CSiA6 to match the RTIA7's. (Or, maybe you meant to say the CSIA6?)
just stirring the pot....

The RTI A speakers are absolutely huge.

I upgraded from the Monitor series to the A's as well. I think you will love the sound of them. You may have to make a little room for the CSi A6 center as it's a fairly large speaker compared to the CS1 or CS2 centers.:)
The RTI A speakers are absolutely huge. Yeah and they are not light either.;)
lorneth1 09-23-08, 07:45 PM Congrats! I too, just upgraded from Bose to Polk. I ordered the rtia7, csia6, and fxia4 and will get them Friday. I can't wait!!!

FYI: The only thing a 'true center' offers is a horizontal form factor that fits better above or below a display; this orientation usually sacrifices "better dialogue dispersion/performance" as a result. A traditionally vertically oriented bookself or tower which matches the left/right pair is ideal.

[post deleted due to unnecessary crankiness...apologies]

Oh man...that means I'm going to have to stand up my Xbox and PS3. I don't like that idea. Gonna see what I can do. I"m gonna measure the placement. This other speaker needs to get here already.:( ...and I almost went for the RTi A9 but they are just way to big. I'm glad I didn't get them 'cause the picture with the blurays makes them look retarderly (don't even know if that is a word) huge. Wow!

I have a slight idea.. lol! I had to bring this up 3 flight of stairs to the attic. I included a pic of the box and the back of the speaker where the
PowerPort Plus is located.
I can only imagine the size of the A9 box.
How do u like them and what do u have them paired up with (5.1 or 7.1)? What receiver do u have and are u running an amp with them?
am_pcguy 09-30-08, 11:04 PM I just upgraded from some RTi70's (ruined in a move) to the RTi A7's. I love them, they sound wonderful.

And they look nice too.
I think you will be very happy when you get your set finished.
titanle 09-30-08, 11:40 PM What are the exact measurements for these speakers? I see varied sizes on different websites. Any complaints about them? Im going to upgrade in the next few months and this is one of the candidates, this or the rti a9.

I dont know why Polk has these listed as 42-1/4" H, because they are not. They are 41-1/4" height if u take the legs off. That is the exact height of just the box, from the bottom of the box,not legs, to the top. If u leave the legs on, add another 1/2 inch. 15" deep; 16" deep with grill. 8 7/8 width at its thickest point.
krystian1983 01-21-12, 11:06 PM What reciever is a good choice for these?
