Ya, me too, but it was only $9.98! I totally forgot that special edition was coming until I saw it on the shelf at Wal-Mart.

I was confused reading the title, I thought it was referring to the charity by the Penny Arcade guys. Shows what happens when you don t read up on your horror films.

Hi, I'm Chucky....wanna play?! As with most movies w/sequels, the original is usually the best of the series. Catherine Hicks, who plays the single mother, was undeniably hot. Also loved her in Star Trek IV:The Voyage Home.

I think Child's Play 2 and Bride of Chucky trump the original but I do love it. I just bought the dvd when it came out so I'll probably skip the blu-ray...doubt there would be much improvement...if reviews state otherwise, I would have to consider it.

This film scared the **** out of me when I was a kid.

It would have been a much better film if they had played with the audience a bit a made us think that the boy was the killer rather than the doll.

In the scene where the boy has the same shoes as the doll and the cop finds the shoe prints on the flour on the counter, you can tell they played with the idea.

Any place that ships to the US to order this from? Absolute must have for me! Best thing about this movie is how they played it straight with the killer doll thing, they never go for easy laughs, or descend intentionally or unintentionally into camp.

She is also a sweetheart. Many years ago I was at my apartment building, (still my mom's) in the lobby and she came in to see a relative and we wound up chewing the fat. She was in NYC doing a convention and mentioned how much fun they were and how great the fans are. Genuinely sweet and down to earth and pretty.
I also worked backstage for a day at "spamalot" on B'way when Stephen Collins was starting, he was cool too. So I met both 7th Heaven/Trek alumni...

Kudos Dave on that great story....somehow, your impression of Ms. Hicks' qualities doesn't surprise me, as she just naturally seems to radiate that on the big screen as well. Also enjoyed Stephen Collin's performance on 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' as well....going off-topic, I can't wait for Star Trek XI....too bad it's been pushed back til May 09'....hopefully, the extra time will translate to a better movie....the franchise has been going south since 'First Contact' (as for 'Trek V: The Final Frontier', the less said, the better).

I agree, St:TMP (the director's cut especially) is very underated IMHO. It made Trek BIG, cinematic even if it was imperfect. The other films, Khan included never reached that equivalent again even if they were more successful at being "Star Trek".
TMP aimed for something higher, bigger, grander and even as imperfect as it was, it had me and my buds jaws wide open in awe back on Dec 7th, 1979.

I concur highly w/your summation...TMP truly gave S/T an epic feel & scope with its deliberate pacing and lingering shots....most of the S/T films deserve a proper restoration for BD release....Beam us up Paramount!
