.....simply put, after running MKV2VOB and turning a file into a single large MPEG for playing on the PS3, it works fine. However if I try to play the resulting converted file on the PC (using MediaPlayer Classic) I get the picture, but zero audio. In fact mediaplayer classic doesn't even show an audio filter is activated.

Of course on the PS3 the audio plays fine.

Anyone have an idea of what I'm missing here?

MediaInfo shows the MPEG file has a file type of AVC, and the audio is 640kb AC3 48Khz, 6 channels.

Not sure what you are missing, but you've made more progress than I have. When I try to play it, the media player comes up, goes busy for a second, then gives a windows error. However, it does play fine in VLC.

Hmmm....Have you installed FFDSHOW, Matroska and media Player classic? Cuz thats all you really need.....well, I guess :) Since I can't get audio to register on the finalized mpeg.

I don't understand how you ppl can create problems like this.

I would look at your filters, codecs, etc. first.

You tried any different media players besides MP classic?

Same problem as OP....files will play in vlc but I'm trying to ditch vlc for mpc and this is the one thing in my way.

I use tsmuxer and select m2ts muxing.

This thing just repackages the file into one the ps3 can play. Quick -n- Sexy.

mkv2vob is just a frontend that uses several other apps, tsmuxer included. It can be used to remux an mkv to an m2ts just like you're saying, so I think using tsmuxer alone would create the same problem (but i should probably try this.)

Yup, tried tsmuxer and same problem.
