Haven't decided on which brand/model LCD to get but I do have some questions on how I'm going to connect this baby and still pass HD signal.

I have a Marantz 8500 receiver that I absolutely love and do not want to get rid of it. I really don't have the money to get both a TV and new receiver anyways. I will have DishHD and eventually a blue ray with the internal decoders. Basically what I want to know is will my Marantz work with my new TV and be able to pass the HD Signal? I do have a DVI in/out I do believe but right now I'm just using S-Video. Is HDMI the "only" way to have 1080p or can I use a S-Video/HDMI converter box? I assume S-Video is 480p only and will not convert 1080p. Anyways I need help.

Ok I think this video just told me what I needed to know. Component, DVI and HDMI is the only way. I think I have them all but HDMI.

It appears that receiver has two DVI inputs and 1 output for switching. (DVI doesn't carry audio so this is strictly for video switching or you could just connect the video directly to the display and not use the receiver for video switching.) You should be able to use HDMI to DVI cables to connect your Dish receiver and Blu-Ray player. You'll need to use optical for the audio from the Dish STB and if you want to use the advanced codecs with Blu-Ray you'll need a player with analog 5.1/7.1 outputs.

You can probably find more details in the AV receiver section on the 8500 and Blu-Ray players that will fit your needs in the Blu-Ray player section.
