What would be the best antenna to get? I know an indoor antenna would do me no good. I need a strong outdoor antenna. Anything else I might need? Here are my results from tvfool.com:

I had good luck building the nearly free 4-bow tie coat hanger special -- It allowed me to test out the reception, I went with the db-4 after testing

I don't have a link to the build it yourself, maybe someone else does.

I saw a guy build one on youtube, but I'd rather just purchase one.

Channel Master 4228: Its large capture area will help get signals with that "1-edge" diffraction in your area. Mount it as high as you can. Get a rotor, too, because there's nearly a 120-degree difference between ABC (east-southeast) and NBC (slightly to the west of of due north). The other stations lie between these two. Pre-amp optional for one TV on less than 100 feet of cable, mandatory for longer length/two or more tuners; get a low-noise Channel Master or Winegard model if necessary.

I built the "coat hanger" antenna and tricked it to the extent that it's now my permanent UHF antenna, but I put it in the attic. Wood used in this way won't last long outdoors no matter how well it's finished/sealed. It's indoor use only.
