I'm curious to know where I can find a comprehensive list of types of BD being used (BD25 vs BD50). I used to go to bluraystats.com but their list is not updated and far from complete.

View Full Version : BD25 BD50 movie list? David Susilo 09-24-08, 06:42 PM I'm curious to know where I can find a comprehensive list of types of BD being used (BD25 vs BD50). We constantly are trying to add as many titles as we can, but there are a lot of discs and only about 7 of us that post. mpyw 09-25-08, 02:01 AM you can check it here:- http://www.blu-raystats.com/Stats/Stats.php?OrderBy=Size Phloyd 09-25-08, 02:24 AM I can assure you that the blu-raystats.com pages are updated, though there are a number of titles that have never had their size reported that I have seen (as well as other interesting stats of course). I am interested to know of any sources for such information since the goal is to have accurate information for all discs currently available. If you have information for some discs that don't have it, feel free to submit it. Thanks! bplewis24 09-25-08, 12:51 PM You can also search bluray.com (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/search.php) by disc type (BD25 vs BD50). I agree with Phloyd that it definitely would be nice to have more sources of information - the specs thread here seems to be pretty much it (not counting occasional posts here and there at other forums). I always assumed that none of the review sites are completely reliable sources on this, but maybe one of them does actually check the disc size. For an alternate online listing, you can try mine (http://www.cinemasquid.com/MovieMatrix.aspx?Display=DiscDate,DiscCount,DiscFormat,DiscS ize,DiscProtection&SortExpression=MovieDiscFormat&SortDirection=Descending) as well, although it should have pretty much the same info as blu-raystats.com and the specs thread (although I do not track non-domestic releases). By the way, if an entry doesn't have an total byte size in my list, then it should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, many of the multidisc sets do not have size info on the extras disc since we usually don't report those in the specs thread (and a lot us are just renting the main feature anyway). Phloyd 09-26-08, 02:02 PM I always assumed that none of the review sites are completely reliable sources on this, but maybe one of them does actually check the disc size. Unfortunately, if anything, the review sites are getting worse in this sense. Incorrect disc sizes and audio/video codec info is becoming more common... :( David Susilo 09-26-08, 09:01 PM thank you for the help guys. However, I find it disturbing that review sites can't tell whether a disc is BD25 or BD50. It's so easy by looking at the reflection on the disc. If there is no rainbow effect then it's BD25, if there's rainbow effect, it's BD50. jostenmeat 09-26-08, 09:25 PM However, I find it disturbing that review sites can't tell whether a disc is BD25 or BD50. Thanks. :D RBE is a good thing?! :p FWIW, I've been slightly paying attn to the proportion of 25:50, and the larger discs have been crawling upwards over the last year or so, IIRC. Just only going by the aforementioned bluray stats site. At 55.3% it appears for BD50 currently. I believe it used to be less than half just a year ago, but don't quote me. David Susilo 09-26-08, 09:27 PM :D the rainbow effect is due to the "misalignment" of the pits between the 1st and 2nd layer. The same goes with DVD-DL. :D Patsfan123 09-27-08, 03:03 PM Its also easy to see that all BD50s say BVDL and there are 2 concentric circle barcodes instead of 1. David Susilo 10-04-08, 09:27 AM coolio! THANKS! lgans316 10-04-08, 09:36 AM http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=760714 David Susilo 10-05-08, 08:58 AM I conclude that at this point in time, cinemasquid.com gives the best info for disc size. |
