View Full Version : Isolation pad
lamonsasa 09-24-08, 07:03 PM Hey guys, so im probably going to order my eD A2 300 in the next day or 2,
im also going to order an Isolation pad, it says that it improves bass sound aswell as isolates vibrations from the floor and such for people like me who are in apartments. but i have like 4 options and i dont know which one to choose
There is the Gramma, then there is the Great Gramma, heres a link to both of them:
http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolation_gramma/sound_isolation_gramma.asp
And then there is the SubDude , heres a link:
http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolation_subdude/subdude.asp
And there is the SubDude HD, heres a link:
http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolation_subdude/subdude_hd.asp
Which one do i need for my upcoming A2 300 , and this thing can only improve things, it cant make them worse right ?(worse as in messing up the bass sound)
Thanks guys.
nugga22 09-24-08, 07:15 PM Go to sweetwater.com and order Gramma. They are both the same price, but the Gramma is elongated. The Subdude is only 15" x 15" whereas the Gramma is 23" x 15". The extra inches would provide a more stable platform for your eD sub. Here, I even did all the work for you: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GRAMMA/.
lamonsasa 09-24-08, 07:54 PM Thanks mate, Do you have any personal feedback on Gramma? does it really work? i saw that Amazon has the Gramma also for $49, id rather order from there as i ordered from them before.
And it can only improve things yea? it cant like make the bass sound worse or something like that right?
Ironmike86 09-24-08, 09:09 PM Use the search function then you will find threads like this. Read it all then come back

lamonsasa 09-24-08, 10:13 PM Sounds good, im gonna go for it and order the Gramma right now but before i do. Do you know if Sweetwater.com charges tax?
lamonsasa 09-24-08, 11:09 PM Just read on their website that they dont charge tax.
ddrheretic 09-24-08, 11:32 PM I sit my a2-300 on the foam corners it shipped with. I am el cheapo.
lamonsasa 09-24-08, 11:32 PM I dont understand one thing, the dimensions of the Gramma is 23x15x2.75
the size of the eD A2 300 is 18x18x21, so some part of the subwoofer is gonna be hanging out of the pad? wont that look bad?

lol cheapo :D
GautLSU 09-24-08, 11:34 PM Since both products have turned up in the same thread, I'll add my question...
GRAMMA is 23" L x 15" W
eD A2-300 is 21.5" L x 18" W
As the A2-300 is a down-firing sub, is it preferable to use it without feet, or with spikes (or hourglass)?
If using feet, could someone maybe take a quick measure as to the center/center distance of the A2-300 feet so I can tell if they'll actually fit on the GRAMMA? Looking at pictures, it seems they are at least 1.5" in from the edge, but hard to tell...
lamonsasa 09-24-08, 11:42 PM id like to know the answer to Gaut's question too, i think the sound will be messed up if we place the a2 300 on the Gramma WIthout the spikes/hourglass.
Hot Grits 09-24-08, 11:52 PM You probably need the feet so the driver doesnt hit the floor.
lamonsasa 09-25-08, 08:07 AM Right but how would one put the a2 300 on the pad on its feet if the a2 300 is too big, that means it wont be fully on the pad , the other way is to ignore the feet of the a2 300 and put the driver flat on the gramma but that is not a good thing i think..
Hot Grits 09-25-08, 08:31 AM Why dont you ask how far the feet are apart from eachother on the eD owners thread. I am sure Chris or Alex over at eD would be happy to help you. You are probably not going to have enough clearance for the driver w/o the feet.
