It appears the source feed is 16:9 SD.

What was with all the backround noise? Sounded like someone was moving the microphone.

From the caps, I would say FOX used edge enhancements. As well, about 20 seconds into the speech, NBC-HD lost the 16:9 feed and put up a Presidential Seal with the words "Back-Up" below it. The sound continued, though. The 16:9 picture returned after a few seconds.

Yeah, no kidding. I was going to say maybe his tie was hitting the mic but he wasn't moving around when he was talking.

My wife said maybe the dog was snoring on the floor next to him. :D

I wish they would show that all the time. Much better than what ABC, CBS and FOX showed. ;)

People have noted in the CNN transition thread that Larry King has done previews during Campbell Brown in HD even though his show does not air in HD itself.

But the subsequent toss from Larry King to Blitzer in D.C. was either in really good SD widescreen or really poor HD. Never seen that before. (Blitzer was on the TSR set.)

The font suggests it is a CBS graphic. Was CBS the pool last night? (So if there was something wrong at the source, they fliped the switch?)

I only caught it on FOX since I had my tivo recording from that station.

PQ definitely had to be WS SD as it wasn't sharp as mentioned earlier. We too were trying to figure out what that knocking sound was but didn't see anything moving. Who knows.

On NBC and Fox the President seems to be showing his age a bit more.
