Rieper 09-26-08, 01:41 PM Never heard of this series, but the characters look like they're straight out of 'AKIRA'....link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqMgmvpYPpk&feature=related) Kevin M. Dean 09-26-08, 05:59 PM It's character designer, Katsuhiro Otomo, created the original Akira manga and directed the Akira movie.... so yes they look like Akira. raoul_duke 09-26-08, 06:02 PM No. I've been robbed once before... Of course. zBuff 09-26-08, 07:38 PM Yes no problems. Region A is region A, America and Japan are in the same Bluray region. Japanese pricing for discs has always been steep. paku 09-26-08, 08:20 PM Freedom Blu-ray Box Set $118.90 USD link (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-13c-49-en-70-304c.html) This better be the greatest anime in the history of animation for that price! Considering the total SRP for the HD DVDs was $240 and you didn't even get the 7th episode, I'd say $140 is pretty good for a complete set in a nice box. By the way, you can get it for around $80 at DVD Pacific. Bandai's discount is generally higher there than elsewhere, so for example despite a $50 list price Akira should be available for less than $30. eapleitez 09-26-08, 09:44 PM i'd like to own this series, but man o man, not for that price. Even at $80, it's a hard sell for me. They also could have easily put all the episodes on ONE BD50. :( paku 09-26-08, 10:50 PM They also could have easily put all the episodes on ONE BD50. :( But this way it seems like more value for your money! ;) There's also another important aspect of if, which is that they can make more on rentals without having to re-author the discs. eapleitez 09-26-08, 11:02 PM They might make a little more on rentals, but I think the MSRP and multiple discs make them lose a lot more on sales. Tes7769 09-27-08, 06:10 AM Those concerned about the $80 price tag a few vendors have might want to keep Ebay in mind.If you can hold out a few weeks once demand settles, you can usually find some of the more expensive dvd/Bluray sets for1/2 MSRP or less. |
