I have noticed that DirecTV HD channels seem to look better at night, anyone else? After 10pm the signal seems to be sharper, vibrant and more detailed than during the day. Does DirecTV uncompress their signal at night? I am taking into consideration daylight and my Sony TVs dimming feature in my observations.

Do any DirecTV HD stations go off-air overnight - displaying a still caption? If so then if they are statmuxed (i.e. dynamically sharing bandwith) with other HD stations, those that are still broadcasting content may get more bandwith?
(BBC Four / CBeebies statmuxes with two interactive streams on digital OTA in the UK - and has often been noticably cleaner when the two interactive streams are displaying holding captions, and noticably worse when they are carrying sports content or fast cut music feeds)

I agree. In fact, mine looks better than my blu-ray.
