I don't see a PS3 thread talking about Pure. I recently downloaded the demo and tried it out, and it's pretty freaking sweet! I'm a huge Motorstorm fan, and I've played the Pacific Rift demo, and I have to say that if you compare the demos head to head, I definitely prefer Pure.

Having said that, they are basically two different takes on off-road racing. Motorstorm is more all out racing by determining which line to take, while Pure is more about using your boost at the perfect time, loading your jumps and then trying to pull off a bunch of tricks while in mid air ala SSX.

So each game has it's own focus, and each game can be successful on it's own, but I must say that Pure kinda came out of left field and shocked me. If you haven't tried the demo yet, download it immediately and check it out. Maybe the best game released in September so far.

I liked the demo a lot. I have yet to rent the full game to try it, but I thought gameplay was excellent and loved the way the ATV handled.

I've been playing it among other things for the past week. Love it. The more you play it though, the less you'll think of the MotorStorm comparison. They don't invade each other's space nearly as much as you'd initially think.

I can not say enough good things about Pure provided you like a finger acrobatics intensive extreme sports game and not just a racing game. The racing, putting together an ATV to suit your style, the track and the type of event provides great depth. Neither easy nor superficial the game ramps up difficulty quickly and demands you use all its game mechanics to win. This means judicious weighing of tricks (slow airtime) versus boosts in races and sprints, finding the best line for that purpose (very cool, there's not just one best line for everything), and learning the tracks. You heard that right, the handling is not some kind of piece of cake if you want to be fast as the AI will show you soon enough.

Frankly, I didn't expect the depth in handling and track design, tricks vs. boost et al until the AI ran me down like an old dog. Pure may not have many modes but the core game is so polished, navigation slick with all the right options in all the right places (instant restart of an event at any time during or after etc.), progression hard but fair, making ATVs is effective and not just window dressing. And to top it all off the entire thing has physics good enough to make it a challenging offroad racer and a trick system just complex enough to make pushing it a rewarding rush.

I have NO idea why this one isn't getting more hype. In its subgenre of extreme sports racers it's a king among men.

The tracks are pure eye candy. " I hope Motostorm will be like this" is what kept running through my mind when playing this. They're gorgeous!

There's lots you can do to the vehicles to customize them. There's parts, frames, decals, colors. etc.

All in all, this will not disappoint if your're into extreme racing games. Hours of fun.

Sadly I only have time for one racing game for a while and WipeOut HD is it. Maybe I will grab the demo and give it a few spins just to check out the visuals.

I tried it already, but it really is not my type of game. Pure is a cross between motorstorm and SSX. I like motorstorm, but not SSX. Anyway, the game runs pretty good and the GFX are very nice (long viewing distance). Either way, I'm getting Motorstrom 2. Was realy looking forward to Pure, but its just way too over the top for me.

I have been playing it non stop on the 360 since release. Freestyle online is the best mode. People freak out seeing the moves and wipeouts you do. Brings you back to SSX and I love the fact that you have to do tricks to get boost. Better than racing games that just have you going around a track. Big difference in gameplay from the others for me. The loads times are very very fast from starting the game to menu and gameplay.

Funny...as I was browsing the forum I found this thread...while my son was playing the demo :).

I loved the atv offroad series and agree. The graphics/gameplay are awesome for this game...I didn't even realize it was already released. May have to stop off at gamestop today and pick it up :D
