Just picked up the Nyko charger base 2 http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=128 ... i gotta say, it is pretty cool. it has this USB adaptor that lets you just drop it into the slot to charge instead of having to connect the usb plug to it. Its really convenient. As for its reliability and durability, that has yet to be tested but the design is definitely cool.

Status report??
I'm buying a 2nd controller and want a charger base, how's the Nyko Charger Base 2 working for you?

I've had one for about 6 months now and it works great. I just bought a couple more of them as Xmas gifts.
Thumbs up mon!

I've had the Nyko Charger base for 10 days now.
Here are my thoughts/issues:
a) Nice to charge the remotes at central spot
b) I wonder how many days before I or my kids lose the little plastic mini-usb devices that connect the PS3 remote to the charger base
c) If you lose those little clear plastic plugs, you are SOL unless you can buy them as a service part (I've not checked the Nyko website either),
Below picts show what I mean.
See these small little guys?
I was not aware of the PS3 remote to charger interface before buying.
While their solution works I'd advise others to at least compare other charger stations.
I'm actually thinking to use clear shipping tape (the 2" wide stuff, cut down to look nice) to tape those down in the charger stand so they don't get lost.
I'm also going to take the base apart and put some opaque cover over the BRIGHT lights, those shine too brightly at the back of my Home Theatre room.

Funny. Those charger adapters are the reason I bought the charger. They make dropping the controller into the charger base so much easier.
They plug into the controller and stay on it pretty snugly. I am not worrying about them dropping off. It's not like we are swinging the controllers crazily like some other console owners... :)

Thx for your feedback.
I hear ya, the usb-mini plug likes to be lined up and those adapters once on the controller do make drop and charge easy into the base station.
I was taking the charger adapters off every time the controller, and then either putting them back in the base or somewhere on the table.
Why was I doing that? While they fit snug at times my kids take the controller out of the room and I can see those easily getting lost.
I'll just use shipping tape & tape the adapters to the controller.

I'd say this only affects those with Projectors/screens in a HT environment.
We got tired of the bright light from the bulbs.
We keep the charger station in the back of the room where we sit, so during gaming it's not a problem, but when watching movies in full dark then it's a problem.
You can see the 2 green lights on the table here:

I took it apart and simply put tape over the bottom to cut down on the LED light transmission:

That sorta worked, about 25% reduction, but still way too much light.
Therefore I then took a black perma marker and colored the bottom of the bulb, that cut down I'd say 50%.
Now acceptable, but I'd like to cut the light to at least 75% reduction, will get some white-out from work and paint the bottom end on 1 side to see how that blocks more.

You could just put a towel over it.

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus. I have had this charger for several weeks now and it is a very convenient and reliable method for charging my two controllers.
Like others here I opted to simply leave the charging plug attached to the controllers.
