Just saw that report. Another legend gone, shame. RIP.

I was pretty much expecting this announcement. There were recent pictures of him looking gaunt, and rumors he had cancer. Shame. He was one hell of an actor.

I watched The Sting last evening in honor of his passing. Good guy, emotionally stable and a giver.

Has played so many great roles like the Hustler, Cool Hand Luke and Butch Cassidy. I think everyone loved him.

btw, he was also in a Hitchcock movie with Marry Poppins. You don't hear to much about that one.

Indeed.

I'm going to add his films that I haven't seen to my NetFlix queue, and then make it a point to re-watch my favorites.

Man... what a loss.

Torn Curtain with Julie Andrews, cold war spy thriller.
You got it.

He also played:
an architect (no, not Art Vandelay) of a building with a major problem, and
a player-coach of a sports team.

He was great at everything.

Classy guy. Younger actors could learn a thing or two from him.

Cool Hand Luke is one of my favorite movies. He was a truly fantastic actor!

George Kennedy and I are still upset that safety pin did not pop!

All Paul Newman had to do was flash a goofy smile in a movie and you were hooked. He was great at it.

btw, did anyone see the interview where he talked about beating Jackie Gleason 3 out of 4 times in pool while filming The Hustler? Great story.

One of his often overlooked films is HOMBRE, probably one of the most underrated westerns ever made. He is fantastic in this film, which also has a strong supporting cast, including Frederic March and Richard Boone.

I see you already mentioned it, but Slap Shot was a great flick!

Newman was awesome!
