I have an InFocus Screenplay 7200. Recently I stopped receiving HD picture via component cable. I have component cable plugged into Video 3 on projector and other end into Denon 3803 receiver. I have other component cable from receiver to cable box. This setup has worked for 4 years. I got a new cable box, and new component cables and still the same problem. When I run component cable from projector directly to cable box, still no HDTV picture. I do get a picture via composite cable.

Can someone suggest what might be the problem? Could it be the projector?

Some cable boxes deliver HDTV only via HDMI format. This is due to copy protection. You might ask your cable company to substitute a different model of cable box that does not have this restriction on over the air and non-copy protected shows, or you may have to subscribe to a different company (satellite?).

Composite and S-video are inherently limited to SDTV and are not affected by copy protection.

Thanks for the quick response. I forgot to mention that when I tried to connect the projector directly to DVD player with component cable I still did not get a picture. (Thought it might be the receiver).

Whether its cable or DVD, when I go to source Video 3 on projector it just says Video 3 on lower left corner of screen but picture does not appear.

BTW, my cable box is from Cablevision, Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HD.

All Scientific Atlanta cable boxes deliver full 1080i and 720p through component. I am watching the projected image as we speak..... I mean type.:D

It appears the component video input on your Infocus as had a failure. If that's the case you will need to return it to the manufacture for repairs.

I would try another display just to verify, but it sounds like there is a problem with the input.

Might be a silly question... Is your video 3 selection still associated with one of the component inputs? I have a 7205 and through one of the menus you can change each video selection to use different inputs.

Try another set of cables.
