MGM is fast becoming a favorite of mine, as does the HDNet Movies channel! :)

Have all three flicks slated for recording on DN's 622 DVR receiver, so is going to be quite a JB movie-watching marathon!... :D

Pass. Brosnan is the worst Bond ever (yes, even worse than Lazenby). Give me Connery, Moore and Dalton (best... Bond... EVAH!) "007" movies in HD and I'll be so there! :)

Recorded ;)

Goldeneye is one of my favorites, the other two are so-so but worth watching.
Moonraker is the best, of course.

Brosna's JB could have been much better had the powers-that-be not emasculated him in the name of "political correctness."

Does MGM have commercials? If so, I'll pass.

Yes, they do...between movies...and then only a few; the latter aren't interrupted like you would with Universal and other "HD" channels.
Wish the other channel were as commercials-brief as this one...and not interrupt movies during broadcasting in any way... :(

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is no. No commercials - no cuts - no interruptions. A bug, yes. Making MGM-HD one of my favorite channels, right behind HD-Net Movies.

The above poster is referring to the in-between feature commercial-ettes, similar to what HBO shows. :)

Of course they have special bugs for special weekends - of which this sounds like it qualifies.

You do realize all these have been shown in HD on Showtime in the past?

I can point to the exact moment that Brosnan lost it for me, the "fist" fight in the booth in TND. He fights like a girl...

All HD and SD channels show the same movies over and over at one time or another; is an endless cycle... :(

Well, I think actually the current one, Craig is the worst Bond then comes Dalton.
Brosnan was elegant like Bond supposed to be - like Moore (forever #1 for me) and Connery (forever #2 fr me) were.

Dalton is a joke, he's such a girlish figure and Craig just lacks any elegance, sorry - last Bond was just another action flick, not a bond movie though it's partially due to the fact that Casino Royale was Fleming's very first Bond novel thus lacked the signature elegance (castration?) of the protagonist that so defines all later episodes.

No, there are commercials between the movies, too. The movies themselves are uncut and uninterrupted, though. The bug could be a little less obvious, depsite still being less annoying than nearly any other network, short of HDNet Movies.

Oar?
Always. Even on the older academy ratio stuff which shows black pillar bars to preserve the 4:3 format. The scope films are uncropped letterbox presentaion. Nothing is blown up, open matted or stretched to 16x9.

Same here. I record at least a half a dozen movies each month on those channels. It's nice to often find stuff that I've already got in my Netflix queue. Since I don't have a blu-ray player, it's a nice way to see them in HD.

It's real personal.

I believe when someone asked Ian Fleming who he envisioned playing Bond in the movies he replied "Hoagie Carmichael" (no joke). So Fleming at least seemed not to envision Bond as a super suave ladies' man.

I happened to LIKE Lazenby but I would agree with a previous poster: the current one (Craig) seems to me to be the best. I LOVED Roger Moore as "The Saint" but couldn't abide him as 007. Connery was fine, and the original, I just think Craig really makes the character interesting.

And Woody Allen (or was it David Niven)? Forget it. :)

The special bugs have shrunk. If you are going to "bug" a movie.....then this is how ya do it. Small and tight.

You do realize all these have been shown in HD on Showtime in the past?

Too bad Showtime stinks.

Since I'm a James Bond fan (all flavors) this is good news - got my HD DVR all warmed up. I'm sure these telecasts will look better than my DVDs. I see MGM-HD will also be airing the ROCKY films in HD, 1 thru 5 next week. I'm going to have to buy another external HD.
