CRT Dude 09-28-08, 11:13 PM Thanks for saving me monies. Even though everyone says not to by monster cables I needed 1 more person to reassure me.
malicious 09-28-08, 11:15 PM i don't have anything against monster cable just those stupid turbine connectors...
p.s. i realized after the fact that i probably posted this in the wrong subforum... sorry
Monster Cable in general is not popular here at all. Especially considering the alternatives at Monoprice, BJC, etc.
Blacklac 09-29-08, 12:49 AM I agree, I have a pair of 3 component and they are annoying to take on and off. I feel like I'm gonna knock my TV over.
To insert... push while twisting clockwise
To remove... pull while twisting clockwise
They are a good product, just highly overpriced.

nope they still suck... the shroud spins so you can't twist them..
jasonblair 09-29-08, 12:37 PM If only I could find $200 component cables that DIDN'T have turbine connectors! Hmm....

From the Mon$ter FAQ's:
What are "turbine" connectors?
Monster’s unique turbine design allows for maximum contact pressure, contact points and contact mass, all of which are highly important for signal transfer. This design also adds strength and durability. It is often helpful to turn the connector clockwise, to the right, when plugging in or removing the cable.
If the shroud "spins" with yours... perhaps that's why you got them cheaper on EBay? ;)

I wouldn't be surprised to find that they're not even Monster, but Chinese knock-offs.
antwon412 09-29-08, 05:23 PM you should just remove the last 3 words of the thread title
lovebuzz#836 09-29-08, 09:47 PM If the shroud spins, perhaps it is come unscrewed. If you tighten it back down, you should have no problems twisting them clockwise. Not that I'm condoning monster cables.
malicious 09-29-08, 10:25 PM yea they were just loose but it didn't help...
there's just no reason for them to be that tight

I prefer the straight and easy RCA phone jack lead cheap leads and I mean cheap haven’t had a single issue not one, well I’m mostly using XLR now and that gives a tight enough fit without the hassle. I solder my own XLR leads up piss easy and the amount of money you’d save is incredible.
When I saw those Monster THX cables at Maplin electronics down Bournemouth Square a year and half ago I, was all most tempted to wasted £25.00 pounds for mere 1.5meter length, daylight robbery, daylight robbery.http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/images/icons/icon13.gif
Blacklac 09-30-08, 06:22 AM hmm, I have the 3-component set and they are connected at the ends. Makes it kind of hard to spin them while you plug them in. I don't have enough fingers to spin 3 cables at once...
nick2010 10-04-08, 10:40 PM I hate to admit this but I actually broke off the "Y" connector from my old display with component cables like these. If placed back in there would still be an image, but it was distorted with horizontal lines moving across the screen, etc.
