View Full Version : The final, FINAL, game of the 2008 MLB regular season - Twins @ White Sox on TBS HD!
The Final, and this time I really mean it, Regular Season Game of the 2008 MLB season!
Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox
Live on TBS HD, from Cellular Field, Chicago, IL
7:30pm pm ET
1080i & DD5.1
From MLB.com
A full 162-game schedule will not be enough to decide the American League Central title.
The White Sox forced Tuesday's one-game tiebreaker on Monday by virtue of an 8-2 victory over the last-place Tigers following a three-hour, four-minute rain delay and then a contest that lasted even longer. The South Siders can thank Alexei Ramirez, Gavin Floyd and a shoddy Detroit bullpen for the chance to host the Twins on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on TBS HD with a playoff berth on the line.
sansri88 09-29-08, 09:53 PM Yay! TBS-HD! Can't wait for their coverage of the post season (and this game!)
taxman48 09-29-08, 10:33 PM Foul odor inside TV
Hey Ken, how do I get the foul odor out of my tv from the lousy Mets/Yanks season? Glad its over, now we can see some real BB in the playoffs...
spongyfungy 09-30-08, 12:14 AM Will TBS be showing locally on an OTA channel in Chicago/minneapolis
EDIT : No. according to star tribune (http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/tv/29919929.html): TBS' exclusive rights to playoff games went into effect last year and is a change from prior seasons. The Twins used to have ALDS games that aired on cable also simulcast by a local over-the-air station. Today's game will be available only on cable or satellite.
TBS' contract doesn't stipulate OTA broadcasts like the ESPN contract did.
sansri88 09-30-08, 07:02 PM Something is extremely wrong right now.
TBS-HD is stretched. They tried to switch to the HD feed twice but it didn't work...coverage started out black with only audio, then they stretched the SD feed...tried switching again to the HD feed and the a/v cut out again. Currently still stretched.
URFloorMatt 09-30-08, 07:04 PM Ha. No wonder everyone is so skeptical about The Clone Wars on Friday night.

How are you watching? D*, OTA?
Ballstitch 09-30-08, 07:09 PM stretched for me, I'm using Dish. I sure hope this gets straightened out. pardon the pun.
so far stretched picture. I am on D*. Even the studio shots. Wow
sansri88 09-30-08, 07:10 PM Fixed now. Was watching via Comcast on TBS-HD channel 220.
CaCHooKa Man 09-30-08, 07:11 PM looks like its HD now
I don't know man, their replays are all messed up. Lots of pixelation. They are having some serious issues.
Probably TBS is so used to airing stretched stuff normally around this time, they forgot how HD works during daytime on the weekdays.
Looks pretty good. A ton better than WGN HD or whatever channel they are normally on here.
BTW, Sox fans were instructed to wear black for this game.
rrainwater 09-30-08, 07:56 PM TBS was probably trying to figure out how they could stretch HD. If anyone can do it, it would be TBS :)
Anyways, it looks really good to me. I'm not seeing much pixelation through Charter.
Wow, this has to one of the best baseball HD broadcasts to date. Excellent video quality.

Yes, that's it. Ha ha.
Ok, I am watching the Twins vs. Sox tie breaker and it is without a doubt very good HD in terms of PQ and AQ!
I am happy!
The surrounds are in full force as well.
via Comcast.
Yeah, as much as I don't care for the hack announce crew (C-listers, each and every one) the technical quality is first-rate, just outstanding.
BTW - Go Cubs Go !!!!
(EDIT: plus, not a lot of crap graphics junking up the screen)

I agree as well. AQ is great too! I am watching Comcast Chicago.
sansri88 09-30-08, 08:22 PM Where's Chip? I thought they'd have him for this game!
Viewing on Comcast Detroit, looks and sounds very good.
A tight one.
Rex Manning 09-30-08, 08:33 PM Is the audio ahead of the video for anyone else? I'm watching on D* and can tell if the batter is going to swing and make contact before the ball arrives at the plate.

Audio/video in sync with D* here.
Still a tight one. 1-0 Sox, middle of the 8th.
Yeah, I noticed the audio is a split second ahead of the video. Watching on Cablevision. But between Cablevision's horrendous compressing of TBS HD and the Mets' epic collapse, I've been watching very little baseball tonight.
nnarum23 09-30-08, 09:55 PM I hate Chicago, I hate the White Sox, I hate Thome...

At least get to see Griffey in postseason. Any solace there? And Cubs-Sox series would be interesting. Whichever team lost deservied to lose after dropping two of three at home in the last weekend.
I hate Chicago, I hate the White Sox, I hate Thome...
Sounds like a Twins fan to me.:D

No doubt. Twins are big in Sioux Falls. I know because I am originally from Sioux Falls, voted the number one city in the United States several years ago by Money Magazine. Now, if they Twins just had the players from back in the day in their prime.... Tovar, Carew, Oliva, Killebrew, Uhlaender, Chance, et al.
