Heres an odd one.

Just moved to a new area and my alarm clock radio picks up sound when the radio is selected to off. Its defiantly a station, I can make out music and voices. The tuning and volume dial do nothing to get rid of it. Any idea why this is happening and how to stop it?

From time to time I pick up CB or HAM radio. It's really odd when everything is turned off and you hear conversations. I know it's Ham sometimes because they stop and give their ID# from time to time.

Do you live close to an interstate? Base? Airport?

Is it an AM station? Those are easy to pick up under the right conditions, even with your equipment shut off.

In fact, you can find plans online to build a passive receiver for AM signals.

You might try attaching a ferrite core to the AC cable of the alarm clock:
