Hi,
I have a "very basic" question for the experts/guru's. I've spent months working on my HT, slowly acquiring equipment, playing w/designs, living on AVSForum etc. etc. Now that I have parts/parcel in hand & before I finalize placements etc (not basic calcs), how do I properly setup and test the projector/lens arrangement w/my screen?
I'd like some basic pointers for the Marantz VP15S1 and Panamorph 380H. Room size 13.5 x 15 x 8 ft with an additional 2-2.5ft distance that can be squeaked out in crawl space.
(Instead of creating a procenium in front, take the screen wall back - I originally designed the current wall (screen) for possible rear projection from the crawl space, so an 8-9 ft screen area is already available to remove. I would then replace it with another wall behind leaving the current one for framing/outlining the screen, hiding curtains/tracks/masking and as my stage area (for subs etc).)
Assuming the projector and Anamorphic Lens sits ~ 26-28" from rear wall (shelf or ceiling mount), the setup diagrams etc are woefully (to me) complex/arcane for configuring my screen.
I still have an option (have not finalized) on a Screen size, though I have a 105.8 x 45 (2:35:1) to play with. At the moment, I'm just setting up the grids and test patterns, but nothing thus far is making much sense and the anamorphic lens is showing evident pincushion.
Thanks, if I missed a thread or setup sheet somewhere, please point me in the right direction. If not, this would probably be a valuable "sticky" for those of us not as advanced in the art and technique of HT configuration and equipment placement/setup.
