tingham 09-30-08, 07:36 PM I saw that A&E Home Video is releasing this title on Nov.18th. It's from his 2005 tour..which I saw, and enjoyed very much.
'Space Within Us' was captured with 25 hd camara's...shot in 1080p and 1.78:1 apsect ratio. I'm looking forward to this one..anyone else?

Deepsky4565 09-30-08, 09:37 PM Yes, that tour was exciting, I had pretty good seats in Seattle, but the regular DVD I found nauseating. These "docu-concerts" that Paul has been letting out since Get Back are so cut up, interspersed with interviews and crowd shots, and the quick cut editing make it a frustrating experience. The vast majority of people watching already know he was in the Beatles, and how great they were, we don't need to be reminded in between every song! Can't he just put out straightforwards concert videos??? I am a huge McCartney/Beatles fan, and own all his concert videos, but I am seriously contemplating not replacing my DVD of Space Within Us unless is it totally re-edited.

exactly. Hope it's different. It's for the damned ADD crowd. Except they probably wouldn't be interested. We watched "Green Day{ Bullet in a bible tonite and it's the same thing. doc bits between song, the average shot lasting for 1 and a 1/2 seconds during the concert. My wife said, "wow, seems like it was a good concert, too bad we can't actually see it..."
crunchyfrogs 10-01-08, 11:03 AM I have the one where he visits Russia, I was not happy with the way it was made either. Plus it was 4X3 :(
We just want a good hidef concert without a shot every 8 seconds of Uncle Pete in row 16.

Are songs stepped on? If so that is a deal killer for me.

That's a shame..I hope they remaster this, and eliminate all the distractions. I too just want concert footage. I will wait for the reviews before purchasing.
I have the "Hot Night in Charlotte" concert recorded on beta Hi-Fi from the early 90's..I have since converted it to DVD, and that concert was incredible. I got the sound from the concert off a radio simulcast, with the video from the tv broadcast. One of my all-time favorites, and the sound is great. He had some damn good musicians for that tour!

this BD will be the same documentary footage cut in between songs
if you want to see a great concert there is from July '08 McCartney live in Quebec City
but as they say not available in stores only on the net, usenet to be exact source is Canadian TV great great show plays Mrs. Vanderbilt never played live before still will buy Space Within Us hey it's Paul in HD :-)
How does this one compare to BACK IN THE USA from a few years back? I have Back in in USA and love it.
mva5580 10-02-08, 04:13 PM My first ever concert was this tour back in 2005. I always said Macca would be my first concert. Incredible.
And I agree about the presentation, it gets frustrating because you just want to see him play. And it's a very "loud" presentation visual-wise lol. I may pick it up though just to have it. It's still Paul.
Any high-def audio?

thedigitalbits.com is reporting DD 5.1 only, doubt sir Paul even knows about hi-def audio

Just got my copy and I'm very happy! the case says Dolby Digital 5.1 as was
all the info posted on websites but I'm happy to report they are wrong! it's 5.1 PCM! happy, happy, joy, joy while it's not the sonic blast of The Police it's still very good would have liked paul's voice more in the center channel, surrounds were as I prefer audience and proper echo giving the feel of the venue. A cool feature is "Jukebox" you can pick up to 10 songs and they are played in your order with no breaks. The only complaint I have is if you play the whole show they insert interview footage (as if we have no idea who this guy is) between every song a great feature would have been to select via seamless branching to just show the concert footage. the pre-show film is very good as is the sound check songs a selection of oldies. On the road footage while short is very intertaining. If you were on the fence on this disc I say go ahead get it you won't be disappointed.
Beta Tester 11-13-08, 10:30 PM Is this like all of the other McCartney concerts: camera on McCartney for 2 seconds, then cut to a screaming fan for 5 seconds, then back to McCartney for another 2, then to someone holding a candle for 5?
Deepsky4565 11-13-08, 11:24 PM Yeh, you got the idea, but you forgot how he brought down the Soviet Union, and was in that famous band, which one?
Beta Tester 11-22-08, 03:47 PM Has anyone got this yet? I am wondering about the PQ and AQ. I am also wondering about the new Heart - Dreamboat Annie concert one.
Beta Tester 12-01-08, 03:26 AM The PQ and AQ are quite good. There is PCM 5.1 even though that is not mentioned on the sleeve. However, unless you are a loyal McCartney fan, my recommendation is to stay away from this disc. I am seriously thinking of trying to return mine for a refund. There are so many things that are annoying about it:
- Sometimes in the middle of a song they would cut to something else. In Hey Jude it was 90% junk and 10% concert.
- Enough of showing the audience already. It seems that all his concert discs are like that. We know you are great, and we know that the audience thinks you are great.
- Why are things like stage setups and the road crew intermixed into the main feature? They would work better as special features.
- The editing is amateurish. It reminds me of when I got my first video editing program, and I can't wait to show off how many special effects I can do, or how many edits I can do in one second.
- There are too many songs in there that I don't recognize.
The disc tried to address some of the concerns above by including a jukebox feature, but it just didn't cut it. I agree that the Quebec 2008 concert is much better, and at 4.5 hours it had all of his hits uninterrupted. I hope they produce a BD from that concert with lossless audio.
truffleshuffle83 12-07-08, 11:39 AM watched this last night and was extremly dissapointed with how it turned out
i dont want a 1 minute long clip of him playing hey jude in the background as they voice over the scene with dialogue from a beatle crazed family
some of the cuts were seriously seizure inducing, i counted in one song and if they stayed with the same camera for more than a second, that would be on the generous side
Beta Tester 12-11-08, 03:04 AM This review gave the movie 4 out of 5 http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=1157&show=review. There must be multiple versions of this BD, because we couldn't possibly have watched the same one. I would give it 1 out of 5.
