View Full Version : Dang it, T2 looks great.
schizogony 09-30-08, 11:58 PM Okay, T2 gets tossed around like a helpless invalid.
I've had it for a while and haven't ever watched it until tonight, fearing what I've heard to be true: it looks not much better than the Extreme DVD.
You know what? It looks great. Cameron's use of Super 35 is always going to bestow upon us a softer image than, say, Shooter. But, look, this is T2. It defined 90s sci-fi and it looks and sounds wonderful on Blu-ray.
And it's freaking $12 new on Amazon.
So let us set aside our differences and celebrate T2 on Blu-ray!

How big is the screen you are watching it on? Cuz on a 100" it looks like crap! No. I will not celebrate with you, this blu-ray is a turd.
It is crap, the studio canal version destroyed it in terms of detail.
It's OK.
BD 25 & MPEG 2
w/5 yr old transfer
eightninesuited 10-01-08, 01:44 AM What needs to be done. A full restore by THX labs. Also, DTS HD MA 7.1 please. They can simply split the rear center channel for all I care.
Faceless Rebel 10-01-08, 02:15 AM Yes, if any movie deserves a new transfer and re-release as a 2-disc Blu-ray set with the entire first BD-50 disc devoted just to the movie, it's T2. The Extended Version of T2 is two and a half hours long. The blowing up of stuff in that movie would sound epic with DTS HD Master Audio.

The Studio Canal HD DVD is in DTS HD MA, and yes, it sounds pretty damn good.
raoul_duke 10-01-08, 05:23 AM The UK disc laughs at you, sir!
dvdmike007 10-01-08, 05:27 AM The UK disc is not that much better

Rubbish. It's the same as the HD DVD, check out the reviews regarding that disc. Reminds of the silly comments attributed to the UK disc on Amazon UK? "Looks no better than my DVD!", "This sucks!", etc, etc. Morons with Bush tvs bought from Argos during a Manager's Special. ;)
Henke007 10-01-08, 07:03 AM The German Ultimate edition VC-1 and 7.1 DTS HD High Res laughs at every other
HD edition...

And is virtually indistinguishable from the Studio Canal HD DVD, which is in turn the same as the UK BD. We can go around in circles here all day, people. :D
MovieSwede 10-01-08, 07:05 AM To bad that its the extended edition that gets the best mastering.
I want the theatrical version.
