So, I finally moved all of my A/V equipment from on top of the dressers to the closet in our master bedroom. The problem is my clock went with it and I like a clock across the room so when I wake up throughout the night I can see what time it is at a glance. I'm wanting to find something that is either battery powered or 110v and I can install an outlet above the plasma just for a hard wired clock, no problem. I'm looking for something that looks like a classy/modern wall clock in digital (I don't want to do too much thinking when I'm half asleep) and something either illuminated or backlit when the lights are off is required. I thought about taking apart a Sony alarm clock to use just the display portion and making a case of some sort for it but would rather see if anyone has any advice on something that looks good.

BTW, in case anyone cares... here's a before and after of our master bedroom:

You can see the clock (that I considered taking apart) but I'm trying to clean that area up now that it's almost clutter-free so something on the wall would be best. I even thought of making something that would attach to the top of the plasma but I'm afraid it would be too distracting during viewing.

Ideas?

You could try a projection clock, perhaps putting the base unit on the other side of the room and projecting the time over/under the plasma. I've never used one so I don't know how bright they are in practice, though.

It's swanky! Heck, it even (dare I say) drips with class.

I like the clock but way TOO much movement going on for a sleep environment. If they had one without the seconds ticking by.

I think it's a bit much for what I'm looking for. The projection clock isn't a bad idea though but I'm just trying to find something that would work with my setup. I don't see where they have the ability to increase/decrease the overall size.

What I'm looking for is something along these lines but back lit:

To me this is clean, simple and modern looking. The hockey puck one is a nice design but the dots look dated to me.

I'm confident that after a couple of weeks you should be able to convert analog to digital when you are half asleep.

I think I've decided to get a projector style. I can mount it near my ceiling fan most likely.

I'm going to revive this thread because I'm looking for the same thing. I recently replaced my Time Warner DVR with a TiVo HD. Everything is great except the clock on the DVR was our living room clock. Oh TiVo, why couldn't you have put a clock on the HD model? :(

So, like the OP, I want a digital clock that is small, unobtrusive, and illuminated in the dark (if not at all times). If it meets those criteria then I can't imagine it won't fit into our modern minimalist decor.

I've seen a few USB powered clock (that's an option) but nothing that suits my fancy. The projector idea doesn't work for us. An alarm clock is a last resort, but it will just look a bit shluby in our living room.

I ordered a projector digital clock from eBay with the idea of mounting it above the ceiling fan. Well, it arrived and what the auction didn't say is that you had to push a button and it would 'project' for a few seconds. There was no switch to have it project the entire time which is what I would need. I'm still looking too and still rocking the dated alarm clock on the dressers as pictured.
